No, you don't need a referral from your GP to start therapy with me. You can contact me directly to schedule a free 20-minute intro call or your first session.

I offer therapy in English and Greek.

Yes. For adults and adolescents, sessions are available online anywhere within the EU/EEA, alongside in-person sessions in The Hague. For children, sessions are currently offered in person only; you can read more about why on the Services page.
If you'll be temporarily outside the EU/EEA, for example while travelling, please let me know in advance. A session may be possible at my discretion; otherwise, we'll reschedule.
-
Online sessions are held via Google Meet, covered by Google’s GDPR-compliant data processing terms. Sessions are never recorded. You'll receive a private, secure meeting link ahead of your session, along with any joining instructions you need.

I currently work with school-age children. If your child is younger, I'm happy to point you toward another practitioner better suited to their needs, feel free to reach out and I can help with that too. I am registered with SKJ (Kwaliteitsregister Jeugd), the Dutch quality register for professionals working with children, young people and families.

No, I don’t carry out diagnostic assessments. In the Netherlands, these are usually done by specialised clinicians, often via a GP referral. You don’t need a diagnosis to work with me, and I’m happy to support you before, during or after an assessment process.

Sessions are not covered by Dutch basic health insurance (basisverzekering), as Methexis Psychology is an independent private practice. Some supplementary (aanvullende) or international health insurance policies may reimburse part of the cost of psychological support, depending on your policy. If you would like to claim, please check with your insurer beforehand. You will receive a detailed invoice for each session, including my NIP registration number and AGB code.

A session costs €95 for 50 minutes. I also hold a small number of reduced-fee openings, offered at my discretion based on individual circumstances. Feel free to raise this during your intro call if cost is a barrier, though I can't guarantee availability. Payment is due before the start of each session.

The free intro call is a relaxed, low-pressure conversation held over the phone or online. It gives us a chance to briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, answer any questions you have about my approach, and see if we feel like a good mutual fit. There is no commitment to continue—it is simply a warm, open space for you to decide if you feel comfortable taking the next step together.
-
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. We'll talk through your current situation, some relevant background, and what you're hoping to get from our work together. It's also a chance for you to ask any questions and get a feel for how I work. Together, we'll begin with an initial evaluation phase, typically around six sessions, to make sure we're a good fit and get a clearer sense of how best to move forward, in a way that feels comfortable for you.
For children and adolescents, the first session looks a little different in practice, adapted to the young person's age. Depending on what feels most helpful, sessions may involve the child or teenager alone, a parent or guardian alone, or both together. This is something we'll figure out collaboratively, often as part of that initial evaluation phase. Confidentiality is something we discuss openly as we go: what's shared with parents and what stays private is always handled with care and respect for the young person's trust.
-
Typically, each session lasts about 50 minutes. In the beginning, it might be beneficial to have sessions on a weekly basis, especially as it is conducive to building our therapeutic relationship. However, this is not mandatory, and you can choose the frequency of our sessions based on your needs.
The length of therapy varies from person to person, depending on your individual needs and goals. Some clients benefit from short-term therapy, lasting several weeks to a few months, to address a specific challenge or build practical tools they can carry forward. Others prefer a longer-term process, allowing more space for deeper exploration and lasting change. Whichever approach fits you best, we will review your progress at regular intervals and adjust the course of therapy accordingly. Ultimately, the duration of therapy is a decision we make together, based on what feels right for you.

If you want to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance by calling, texting on WhatsApp Business, or leaving a voicemail at +31 85 130 3464 (cancellations via email or therapy platforms are not accepted). For Monday sessions, notice must be given by the previous Friday before 18:00. Late cancellations within 24 hours and missed sessions are charged at the full fee.

Yes. What you share in our sessions is treated as strictly confidential and is never shared with anyone else without your explicit written consent. Clinical notes are stored securely, in line with Dutch data protection law (GDPR/AVG) and healthcare regulations (WGBO).
There are a small number of specific, legally defined situations where confidentiality may need to be broken, for example, a serious and acute risk to your safety or someone else's, concerns about the safety of a child or vulnerable adult, or a legal requirement such as a court order. Case details may also occasionally be discussed, fully anonymised, in professional peer supervision to support the quality of my work. These exceptions are rare, and where possible, I would always aim to discuss this with you first.
If you're the parent of a younger client, a few things work a little differently by age. For children under 12, I'll usually share general progress with you while keeping the details of individual sessions private. For adolescents aged 12 to 15, sharing anything beyond what's needed for your consent generally requires their agreement too. From age 16, the file belongs to your child alone, and I'd need their permission to share it with you.
You're welcome to ask me directly at any point, I'm always happy to talk through how this works, and the full details are set out in your signed Consent and Services Agreement.
