Services
Finding the right kind of support, and the right person to offer it, matters, whether you're looking for yourself, or for your child or teenager. This page is here to give you a clear, honest picture of how I work with each age group, so you can decide what feels right, at your own pace. If anything here leaves you with questions, I'm always happy to talk it through directly, there's no pressure, and no wrong question to ask.
I offer individual psychological support and therapy for adults, adolescents, and children, adapted to each person's age, needs, and pace. This includes neurodivergent clients; my own background includes direct experience in special and mainstream international education, and I welcome working with neurodivergent individuals as part of my general practice, without a specific diagnostic focus. My approach, described in full on the About page, is collaborative and grounded in your actual life, not only in the session itself. In Schema Therapy specifically, this often means recognising old, ingrained patterns and deliberately practising new ways of responding in real situations, change that's built, not just talked about.

Adults
Many adults come to therapy at a turning point, when familiar coping strategies stop being enough, or when life shifts faster than we're ready for.
This is also where the idea behind Methexis shows up in practice: therapy works best when it isn't led from ahead, but built side by side, each of us bringing something the other doesn't have.
Sessions are collaborative from the start: we'll take time early on to understand what's brought you here and what you're hoping for, then shape the pace and frequency around what actually works for you, whether that's weekly sessions building steady momentum, or a more flexible rhythm around a busier season of life. You're welcome to attend in-person in The Hague or online from anywhere in the EU, and to move between the two as it suits you.
Common areas of focus include:
Life transitions and identity shifts
Expat and international life adjustment
Anxiety and stress
Low mood
Burnout
Self-confidence and self-worth
Breaking unhelpful patterns
Relationship difficulties
Adolescents (12 and Οlder)
Adolescence brings real pressure, socially, academically, and in figuring out who you are, often while the people around you are adjusting too. Having a steady, independent space to make sense of it can make a real difference.
I aim to make that space feel like it genuinely belongs to you, not an extension of what the adults around you expect. Depending on your age, this might mean coming to sessions independently, or beginning together with a parent or guardian before continuing on your own. Sessions are available in-person in The Hague or online, wherever you're based within the EU.
Common areas of focus include:
Adjusting to a new school or country
Identity and self-esteem
Anxiety and stress
Low mood
Social confidence and peer relationships
Family and social pressures
Children
Children don't always have the words for what they're feeling. Emotional difficulty often shows up as changes in behaviour, sleep, or how a child is doing at school, rather than something they can name directly. Support at this stage helps make sense of what's underneath, for the child and the family around them.
With younger clients, building trust comes first, sessions are paced to how your child responds, not rushed toward a fixed structure. Parents and guardians are treated as partners throughout, not just kept informed after the fact, and I'll talk openly with you about what's working and what we might adjust. Sessions are offered in-person only, since young children often engage and communicate best when they have room to move, be present, and feel at ease in the space.
Common areas of focus include:
Adjusting to a new environment
Learning to manage big emotions and behaviour
Building confidence
Friendship difficulties and social connection
Family changes or transitions
I currently work with school-age children; for younger children, I'm happy to help point you toward another practitioner better suited to their needs. I am registered with SKJ (Kwaliteitsregister Jeugd), the Dutch quality register for professionals working with children, young people and families.
Neurodivergent Clients
I welcome neurodivergent clients of all ages. Whether you are on the autism spectrum, have ADHD, or have dyslexia or another learning difference, with or without a formal diagnosis, my approach is neurodiversity-affirming: the aim is not to change who you are, but to better understand how your mind works, reduce stress and overwhelm, and build strategies that genuinely fit you.
Common areas of focus include:
Anxiety and stress
Low mood
Burnout
Self-esteem
Sensory or social demands
Adjusting to a new country, school or workplace
My experience includes supporting children with diverse learning needs in both special and mainstream education settings at international schools in The Hague.
Please note that I do not carry out diagnostic assessments (for example, for autism or ADHD).

Is This the Right Fit?
My practice offers preventive and curative psychological support, for example, with stress, anxiety, low mood, life transitions, or adjustment difficulties. It isn't set up to provide specialised psychiatric care (Gespecialiseerde GGZ), so if you're currently in an acute crisis, experiencing psychosis, or need specialised treatment for severe eating disorders or substance dependency, please see the crisis resources on my Contact page or contact your GP for the right level of care. If you're ever unsure whether this practice is the right fit, feel free to ask: I'm happy to talk it through, or point you toward someone better suited to help.
Complaints Procedure
At Methexis Psychology, I aim to provide high-quality, respectful psychological support. Therefore, I want you to feel comfortable raising anything that doesn't feel right in our work together. If something feels unsatisfactory, I encourage you to talk to me about it first.
If you would rather not, or we cannot resolve it together, you can contact the independent complaints officer at Klachtenportaal Zorg, who can advise you and help mediate at no cost to you. Through the complaints scheme of the Dutch Institute of Psychologists (NIP), I am affiliated with Klachtenportaal Zorg, whose complaints regulations meet the requirements of the Dutch Healthcare Quality, Complaints and Disputes Act (Wkkgz) and the Youth Act (Jeugdwet). As an SKJ-registered professional, I am also subject to SKJ’s disciplinary rules (tuchtrecht). More information is available at skjeugd.nl. If a complaint is not resolved, it can be brought before an independent complaints or disputes committee.

Young clients: adolescents can submit a complaint themselves; for younger clients, a parent or guardian can do so. Young people and their parents can also get free, independent advice from a youth confidential adviser (vertrouwenspersoon jeugd) through Jeugdstem (jeugdstem.nl).
